Centralian Middle School

Centralian Middle School has expanded its educational program at the Gillen campus from July 2010 in response to a higher-than-expected increase in Year 7 enrolments and increased funding in Budget 2010 for the Youth Services currently provided at Anzac Hill.

In response to the flourishing enrolments – there are 140 enrolments in Year 7 – Gillen campus has been enhanced with new and improved facilities. Middle school staff and students have now been consolidated on the Gillen campus, with the remaining students at Anzac Hill transferring across in early September. All students are now attending class on the Gillen Campus full time.

Bringing students from the two campuses together at Gillen will strengthen the programs on offer, allow for a more effective use of resources and enabling staff to work together in a more cohesive, integrated way.

Upgraded facilities at Gillen include:

  • enclosing the gym for dance and drama programs
  • facilities for the Clontarf Academy
  • relocating the NT Music School
  • Covering the basketball court for outdoor physical activities

The three group schools housed at Gillen will move to another site to make space for increased in 2011, Anzac Hill will operate with services for the youth of Alice Springs and an alternative education program for students with extreme behaviour issues.
