Back to School Payment Scheme

The Back to School Payment Scheme has been established by the Northern Territory Government to help families offset the beginning of year expenses that come with providing the best education for students such as cost of textbooks, resource hire schemes, stationery, school uniforms, excursions, and travel costs associated with school such as the Student ID cards.

Schools and school councils can make suggestions to parents as to the type of items that are available to purchase, within the specified guidelines however parents make the final decision as to how they wish to utilise the payment within those guidelines.

Parents or guardians of Northern Territory students enrolled from preschool to Year 12 in Term 1 are entitled to receive $150 per student of eligible educational items from the student’s school.

Parents or guardians of preschool students enrolled for the first time in a Northern Territory School in throughout the year are also entitled to receive $150 per student of eligible educational items from the student’s school in the Term the student starts.
