Lorraine Evans - Principal, Rosebery Middle School

Lorraine EvansMy name is Lorraine Evans and I am the Principal of the new Rosebery Middle School.  It is great to be back in the dynamic and innovative Palmerston community. In 2007-2008 I enjoyed thoroughly leading both Driver Primary and Gray Primary Schools as Principal. I (reluctantly!) left the Cluster in 2008 to take up the position of Acting General Manager of the Student Services Division responsible for Disability and Support, Student Wellbeing and Pathways including Child Protection.

Prior to coming to the NT in 1992, I worked in the private education sector in Queensland as a leading teacher in primary and junior secondary schools and providing teacher training across the state in literacy teaching strategies - some habits die hard!

More recently, I have been Principal at Nightcliff Middle School in Darwin - which was nominated as the 2010 NT Microsoft Innovative School under my leadership - I look forward to sharing the same opportunity with the Rosebery Middle School team in 2011. I believe I found my niche in the middle school environment - I love working with this age group and seeing the emergence of our future leaders.

The wide range of my experience has provided me with both a helicopter and up close view of what works in schools and I look forward to applying those learnings to the state of the art learning environment of Rosebery Middle School. We have a striking architectural element in the suburb of Rosebery that represents a benchmark for middle school facilities. I am determined a talented, committed team will RISE to the occasion through:

  • Relationships Respect Rigour
  • Innovation Identity
  • Safety Success
  • Empowerment

Starting on Wednesday 3 March (Palmerston High School at 5.30pm) opportunities will be offered to parents and students to meet me and chat about the plans for Rosebery Middle School. Further opportunities will be offered to local School Councils, Year 6 students and parents. My contact details are below for anyone who would like to get in touch directly - as you can imagine I love talking about this amazing facility for our students, their families and the Palmerston Community. See you soon.
