The Territory and Australian governments have signed an agreement that will see more than $120 million directed to support National Partnership related activities in Territory schools from 2009-2015.
The Territory government will match the Australian Government investment through new and redirected funding.
The department is working closely with the Catholic Education Office and the Association of Independent Schools of the Northern Territory to ensure investment is directed to where it is most needed.
In addition, the Territory is eligible for extra reward funding, under the Teacher Quality and Literacy and Numeracy National Partnerships following achievement of:
- agreed targets in literacy and numeracy improvement and;
- the delivery of systemic-reforms targeting critical points in the teacher lifecycle to attract, train, develop and retain quality teachers and leaders in our schools and classrooms.
